Clete’s last stand (of 2012)

Sunday Clete closed out 2012 with a strong word from Hebrews 2. Jesus is a Superior Man. Jesus has a Superior Message. So LISTEN. And DO! That’s right we are to DO – to PURSUE God hard. Clete shared a quote that is worth contemplating as we move into this new year.

“People do not drift toward Holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.” DA Carson

Last Thursday night several of us became addicts, Fowling addicts. Man, this combination of bowling & football is a blast! Thanks for setting this up Kellan! Look for us to build a few Fowling platforms for PO parking lot summer cookouts.

This Wednesday (Jan 2) we are having a work party 6PM at the PO to paint & prepare the new interim downstairs nursery. We’ll also be cleaning up and setting up more chairs upstairs. Dinner will be provided. (BTW, I just received the architectural design plans for the PO – exciting info to come!)

Sunday (Jan 6) at 4PM we a nursery worker seminar at the PO. This seminar will be lead by our Nursery Director, Emily Decker, and is mandatory for all who will work in the nursery.

Also, Sunday is a huge day as we formally launch DNA Crews within our Dgroups and church family at large. Sunday I’ll lay out what these will look like for us as we press together deeper into Christ, community, & mission. I’ve already been strengthened, challenged, and sharpened by the 2 guys I’ve been rolling with in my first month in being in a DNA Crew . Dive into Hebrews 3 – 4 (even take time to memorize 3:12-14) as we move toward Sunday’s DNA service & launch.
