Spaghetti, Beatbox Battle and a Youth Retreat

Sunday evening, Restore’s youth group held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the PO. The teens did an incredible job putting together a night of food, worship and entertainment! They worked SO hard setting up, making food, serving, and cleaning up- they really took ownership of the night. Several of the teens performed for the entertainment portion and did a fantastic job! Check out these must-see videos.

Two of our teens did an incredible mime routine-

Two of our youth leaders went head to head in a beatbox battle-

The purpose of the spaghetti dinner was to raise money to help our teens attend our fall retreat.  All money raised will go to off-set the trip cost as well as sponsoring some who cannot afford to go, as some teens in our group come from homes with very low incomes. We have 12 teens signed up to go on the retreat and 6 leaders. We are so thankful that so many from the Restore body came out to support the youth,  and many gave above and beyond the meal ticket cost to help them attend the retreat. We will be going to Spring Hill Camp in Evart, MI from October 18th-20th.  Our theme for the weekend is “Follow”. We will be looking at John 10, where Jesus says that he is the Good Shepherd, and Colossians 2:6-7 “Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Our goal is to hit the gospel hard from John 10, talk about what true discipleship looks like (“the sheep follow him, for they know his voice”), and encouraging our teens to be rooted in Jesus.

Please pray for this retreat. Pray that we would have a great weekend growing together as a group and in relationship with one another. Pray that some would come to know our faithful Shepherd- Jesus Christ- who laid down his life for his sheep! Pray that, although many have heard the gospel before, that it would hit them afresh and that they would BELIEVE! Consider giving for the youth retreat. Our goal for the fundraiser was to raise money so that every teen wanting to go on the retreat would be able to. Also pray as we are trying to secure a second van to take on the retreat. We are borrowing one van from a Restore member, but with so many kids signed up to go we need another one. A nearby ministry will let us borrow their van but has asked for a donation for some future repairs. All of our fundraiser money is accounted for with student scholarships for the retreat. Would you consider giving?

Pray in general for our youth ministry, which started up this past July and meets Sunday evenings. A few of the teens that come weekly have yet to come to faith in Christ. Since July, the kids are opening up more and more. During last weeks youth meeting, one student’s prayer request was for help getting to know Jesus, because he has been thinking lately that he doesn’t know him. It is evident that God is at work- which is one of the reasons we are so excited for this retreat! One of our youth leaders recently said, “God is stirring and working mightily through prayer!”  Our deepest desire is that these teens would meet, love and follow Jesus! Would you pray to that end with us?

I was very encouraged to know of the youths response to the upcoming retreat. Are you still in need of funds to cover everyone who wants to go, as well as the donation for the additional van? Please give me a reply and I can help in some way. Blessings and safe travels. Detroit needs move of this. Of course I will need an address.

Hello Ethel, for some reason I did not see your message. My apology! The youth leaders lead a wonderful youth retreat. Yes, we still need a van, and trust that God will provide one in His timing. Thanks so MUCH for your encouragement!
