God has no grandchildren?
We like to think of ourselves as humble people. We can have humble moments in our life but are we truly humble? The feast of King Belshazzar, the grandson of King Nebuchadnezzar, went wrong when began to do things his way and sought self-control. He was physically shaken as he witnessed the human hand write on the wall, and there was no one to interpret the writing until Daniel was summoned. Daniel’s message was clear: the most high God is the one who is in charge and has ultimate authority. We are very prideful when we actually have no control over the circumstances. How many times has God brought us to our senses? What does God need to do to you so that he can have his perfect way in you? “Pride is spiritual cancer.” For Belshazzar, it was not a knowledge thing. He witnessed what happened to his grandfather. The issue is not memorizing enough Scripture and being well versed in doctrine. How many times have you had truth spoken to you,but lacking the power to receive? Without the work of the Holy Spirit, our hearts will be hard. We need new hearts of flesh, soften hearts towards God. We are no different from Belshazzar, and we all must fall at the feet of God. The creator will give an ultimate judgement to each and everyone of us, and all our works will not be enough to measure to the scale. But God sent his Son to be put on that scale on our behalf. The party was never the problem, it was a worship issue. Who are we worshiping instead of a what? We must put our faith in His work on the cross and live in His ways. He is the only way, truth, and life! You can listen to this message on Daniel 5 by Pastor Clete HERE!
