When Kingdoms Collide
Many of us have heard of the story about Daniel in the lion’s den, but more than just being a children’s Bible story, it is intensely practical and it answers the question: ‘When kingdoms collide, watcha gonna do?’ Yes, God is over all and he is not surprised by anything. However, there is the kingdom of God and then the kingdom of this world, and when we are in the kingdom of God, the collision with the kingdom of this world is inevitable. We are called to be in the world but not of the world. What is the world trying to do to us? It will pressure us to compromise. Daniel experienced that pressure, and in a similar way we live in a world where we outsource our depravity and we are pressured to embrace the world’s view points. In times like this, what should we do? We must remain faithful. Is it worth following God when it costs something? It’s less likely that one will remain faithful when the pressure comes if the person is not faithful today. A pattern of faithfulness must be established now! What does God do? He will deliver us and glorify himself. Not only was Daniel kept safe in the lion’s den as God protected him, but as we see in Darius’ testimony, all the praise and worship is given to God. Then, how is it that we can do what were supposed to do? Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ! God never said that he was going to take us around the storm, but that he will be with us in the eye of the storm, that he would get through our trials and tribulations with us. Our faithfulness does not rest in us daring to be like Daniel, but to trust in the promises of the gospel! You can listen to this message on Daniel 6 by Pastor Mike HERE!
Growing tired of miscommunication that comes from interacting with people via social? We are having a dinner and dialogue to have a real conversation on gospel and race. As we normally do on the first Friday of the month, we will be praying and fasting from 6am to 6pm, and we will gather at the PO (2701 Joy Rd. Detroit Mi 48206) at 6pm to pray together. Then, we will break fast together and our panel dialogue will begin at 7pm. We are really looking forward to event! Please come join us! (This also means the all-women’s dinner will be rescheduled in the near future. Sorry ladies!)
