Church Planting Sunday!

What can we learn from the book of Acts? Was it an account of the works of the disciples since Jesus’ resurrection? As Pastor Mike put it, the book could have been titled, “The Continuing Acts of Jesus by His Spirit through His Followers.” The book is about three things: Jesus’ reign, rescue, and reaching. Because the living Christ who rose from the dead is reigning, there is nothing that can stop the advancement of the gospel. The reigning king rescues people out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of the Son. And this rescuer saves sinners by reaching across every possible human barrier. What about us today? Jesus is reaching by his Spirit through his people, and we must multiply locally, regionally, and globally. It’s not an either/or but a both/and. The growth of the church began with worship. It was a team effort amongst a diverse people who strived for excellence, and as we join in on church planting efforts, we don’t have to worry about the losses; Jesus is the ultimate reloader!  Because Jesus is alive, let’s multiply! You can listen to this message by Pastor Mike on the apostolic importance of church planting HERE
In the first third of the audio you can listen to  Pastor Clete recount the history of Restore church. It was a blessing to see some of the pictures and hear the stories from the earlier years of Restore Church, even before we started gathering at the PO! God has done much in the life of Restore, but we firmly believe that there is much more that He plans to do through this family!
At the tail end of the audio, Pastor Tyler briefly shares about why he and his wife Elita are planting a church on the northwest side of Detroit (zip codes 48235 and 48227), and how he hopes to reach out to the broken people who are in dire need of the gospel! If you are interested in partnering with them, whether that is by joining the launch team, coming onboard long term, or supporting Cornerstone Church – Detroit through finances and/or prayer, please contact Pastor Tyler at tyler@cornerstonedetroit.org! You can also checkout their website at cornerstonedetroit.org. Let us all be in prayer and ask God how we can partner with the St. Clair’s and Cornerstone Church!
Lastly, this upcoming Friday (3/18) we will be hosting a Dinner and Dialogue at 6:30pm at the PO (2701 Joy Rd Detroit, MI), focusing on urban apologetics and addressing some of the false teachings present in our community. Please come join us so that we can be enlightened and better equip to engage with those who are in our community! Also we encourage you to invite those who maybe interested and want to learn more about this subject!
